Following extensive refurbishment, one of our best bars in Zurich, re-opened in October 2017, in a completely new guise. The Widder Bar & Kitchen at the 5 Star Widder Bar is now more open plan after the removal of a wall and boasts a less formal, social restaurant with "show kitchen" and self-serve beer taps.
Seating is less cramped despite the piano remaining, with the jazz musicians continuing the hotel's legacy.
Head bartender David Bandak has organised the cocktail menu based on flavours - "flowery, spicy, earthy, fruity" etc - retaining a focus on producing quality classics, with seasonal offerings serving up Swiss gins.
Whilst the distinctive espresso coffee machine has disappeared from the end of the bar, the famous "Library of Spirits" has over 1,000 bottles with 500 different varieties of spirits, including over 250 types of single malt whisky. Talking of which, the famous Widder Whiskey Flights are set to return.
