First Next Generation Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild’s 2015 vintage wine is the first from Baron Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, who takes over from his mother, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, who died in August 2014.

Her signature appeared on the bottle from 1987 to 2013 with the 2014 vintage David Hockney designed bottles instead carrying the words "In tribute to Philippine".

As was the case when she took over from her father in 1987, the first bottle to be signed by her son has the handwritten promise that "Mouton ne change pas" ("I, Mouton, do not change").

"Flux", the artwork on the 2015 vintage is by German artist Gerhard Richter and continues the tradition, started in 1945, to illustrate each label by a different famous artist.

Although 2015 was slightly warmer than average, it was above all very dry (706 mm of rain, compared with an annual average of 862 mm), especially between February and July. As a result the grapes remained small, which explains why the yield was rather low and the harvest period was the longest in living memory, with the end product being compared to the 2005 vintage.
